Provide the education your employees need on WHMIS (GHS) – how it works, the various hazard classes, and what the information found on labels and safety data sheets mean. WHMIS (GHS) online course is based on the current legislation and meets the legislated requirement for general WHMIS training. Employers must also provide workplace-specific training and instruction for each of the hazardous products in the workplace.

WHMIS (GHS) has come into effect with a transition period that lasts several years (full implementation by December 1, 2018). During this time, suppliers must fully comply with either WHMIS (GHS) or with the “old” WHMIS (WHMIS 1988). This means that there may be hazardous products in the workplace that use WHMIS 2015 labels, classifications and Safety Data Sheets and there may be hazardous products that use WHMIS 1988 labels, classifications and (Material) Safety Data Sheets.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Know that identifying and dealing with workplace hazards is required by law
  • Define the terms workplace hazard, health hazard, safety hazard, adverse health effect and risk
  • Identify and explain the steps involved in the workplace risk assessment process
  • Understand “the hierarchy of control” as it applies to workplace hazards
  • Define and differentiate between engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE
  • Recognize the importance of risk assessment monitoring and review
  • List the required written documentation pertaining to the risk assessment process
What Will I Learn

Participants will learn that WHMIS with GHS is a system that defines and classifies the hazards of chemical products and communicates health and safety information on labels and safety data sheets (SDSs). WHMIS (GHS)provides more detailed and consistent hazard information, making it easier for workers to recognize hazards and protect themselves, and for workplaces to comply with legislated requirements.
Who Should Take This Course?

If a workplace uses hazardous products, there must be a WHMIS program in place. All Workers must be educated and trained so they understand the hazards, and know how to work safely with hazardous products. All workers who work with a hazardous product, or who may be exposed to a hazardous product as part of their work activities must learn about the hazard information for these products.

Evaluation Process:

At the end of the course, participants must complete a multiple choice test. Participants that do not achieve 100% can review the course content and re-take the test until the desired result (100%) is achieved. Test questions are randomly selected from a test bank, making each testing experience unique.

Upon successfully completing all modules, you recieve a Free WHMIS Wallet card and a printable certificate for your records.

Course Duration:

This online course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at any time and return to resume where they left off. The duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge of the subject matter. On average, the course will take 1 – 2 hours to complete.
